Dr Liusvaara has researched the principals´ effect on professional development of the teaching staff. Professional development is seldom organized according to the common vision of the school as means of developing the whole school organization. Pedagogical wellbeing and teachers´ sense of coherence are tightly linked together, and in order to serve the needs of the students, deep learning skills need to be taught throughout the school community. Dr Liusvaara has been working as a school principal, superintendent and planning specialist in municipal and governmental level. She has also trained principals in pedagogical leadership in Finland and abroad. Now she works as a principal in Ressu Comprehensive School in Helsinki. Ressu is an IB World School offering PYP and MYP-programmes.
